Talking 79' 300SD no block heater

My 79' 300SD has no block heater. I'm about to put her up for the winter but still want to do a few fall drives. Can anyone tell me how hard it is to install one?

Thanks, Mark =)

You would be better off installing a lower radiator hose type such as is done here http://www.dieselgiant.com/mercedesblockheaterinstall.htm The plug in the block can be a bear to remove to install a true block heater.

About half an hour to install a lower radiator hose heater.

With good hose heaters available, its not worth the hard work to install a stock block heater.

Many cars came with block heater installed on right side of block with a cap over it, but lacked electrical cord. Cord was later supplied by dealers upon request. Have you verified that no block heater is in place?

I had my Indy do the first one, let him bust his knuckles.

The last one I installed was easy, Buy new metric Motor, plug unscrews
since everything is nice and clean .

I used some anti siez on the threads just incase I ever need to replace it.

You are looking for something like the attached photo. It is on the passenger side. You have to go in from underneath the car.
