300TD Folks 85 and earlier
I know it sounds lame, but I don't want to go taking my car apart for
nothing. Do your rear doors acutate the front dome light? The hatch light? Anything? I see the contact switches, but the schematic I have doesn't even show them. What light is supposed to come on when opening the backseat passenger doors?

Rear doors & hatch should light rear compartment light. There's an override switch on the light assy to turn the light off when doors are open.

the front doors operate the front light- if it's switch is in the correct position, and the rear doors operate the rear light the same.

Thanks Guys
That was it. The door switches were working. The switch on the rear dome light works differently than the front. The two switch position functions on the light are dependent on the setting of the dash switch.

Yup.
Drives me nuts. Not enough light from the rear or the front to illuminate the middle seats the way I'd like. I'm lucky enough to have the rear seats and third headrest, so the headrests block light.
