Exclamation 300SDL Boost too high?

i finally got around to "modifying" my EGR today, and decided to check boost pressure while i had some time, at around 3500 rpm the boost gauge will max at 15psi, is this too much? should i adjust it lower? what will happen if i do not adjust it within spec? 13psi is the correct value?

Is your overboost protection kicking in?

Yes, too much. It should be 11-13psi.

Overboost protection should cut the manifold pressure signal to the ALDA at 1.0-1.1 bar (14.7-16.2 psi).

i was able to adjust it down to 12.5 psi, i will remove the unit and clean it and recheck it after i finish the head gasket replacement

You could run 15 psi all day long, Ray, and nothing harmful would come of it. But, you're heating the intake air to a much higher level than necessary and you're not getting any performance gain because the maximum fuel is present at approx. 12 psi.

With hotter intake air comes the requirement for greater cooling, and, in high ambients, you'd prefer not to be in such a situation.
