Suspension Rebuild-A-Thon

Ok, so I am collecting information and parts in preparation of rebuilding the suspension on my new 300D (new to me 84)

These are the parts I need:
(1) Tie Rod -- $47.53
(1) Steering Damper -- $20.37
(2) Upper Control Arm -- L$56.16/R$56.73
(1) Right Trailing Arm -- (need to find a used one)
(1) Idler Arm Repair Kit -$40.03

Total: $280.74

Now this is using all of the most expensive parts listed on Fastlane--

Anybody have a Trailing Arm?

Driver side rear suspension is good...for whatever reason the PO decided against sourcing a passenger side trailing arm--i had a ex-mercedes mechanic look at it today, he gave me the above list + a trailing arm.

The passenger bottom shock mount rusted thru and the shock isnt attached anymore (makes for a very not-good ride)

I'm just trying to get the rest of the car done to match the condition of the engine

I understand. Bad ride, poor handling and control, plus wheel hop.

Yep -- but the engine runs great.

Maybe I can get another curious Q answered: When going 70mph, how high of RPMs should be normal in the highest gear? I'm sitting at around 3200-3400RPM, which I find incredibly high since this is a diesel engine...but I dont know much at all about diesels..

That is in the right range. The '84 has the 3.07 gearing.

I was thinking around 2000-2500, but as long as its normal and the engine doesnt mind going @ that speed for a long time then i dont mind

Do you still need a passenger side rear trailing arm? I have access to one.
