Flex Disc Issues
My 240D has issues. Last weekend I replaced the flex discs and center bearing. While removing the transmission side flex disc I noticed that one of the bolts was loose. When I removed the disc I discovered that the recess in the, I think it's called a propeller shaft (correct me if I'm wrong), where the flange on the flex disc fit into it has become misshapen due to the flange vibrating around loose in the hole. It looks like the person who owned the car before me ran it for quite a while with a loose bolt in one of the holes in trany side flex disc, which eventually wore out the hole on the prop shaft. I put the new flex discs in with the new center bearing and center bearing support despite this. Car seems to run ok despite this. Very little shuddering or vibration. So I guess my question is this, Is this a terminal thing? Can the propeller shaft be replaced without going into deep tranny surgery? Isl running new discs in a prop shaft with one worn out a bad idea? Unfortunately I think I know the answer this

so the three winged prop shaft doo dad is shot on the tranny side? easy to remove- you just need a BIG socket-(1 5/16??) I did it to R&R the seal last summer. do a search on that (transmission seal replacement) and you should find some info.
I'd replace that part as soon as possible, or you'll prolly be buying another flex disc.

Clamp it down and don't worry about it too much.
