Question 98 e-300 motor mount replacement

I'm planning to replact motor mounts on 1998 e-300 diesel. any pointers? lift the motor from the top or jack from the bottom?

Lift from the oil pan with a 2 x 4 to spread the weight.

Approx 1/2" is all thats needed. Keep an eye on the fan shroud, MAF and Turbo/Exhaust connections while you lift it. Top bolt on right side (pass) was easiest for me tto get to using a universal swivel/socket and extensions from the top.

The mount with the rubber boot goes of the left (drivers) to protect the mount from fuel leaks, etc.

I just did this job and it was super easy since I already had the intake manifold and turbo off. The only other thing I would add is to make sure the little tab sticking up from the top of the mount engages the "notch" in the upper strut sticking out from the engine block.

Do the transmission mount at the same time. Its a cheap little thing but worth doing while you're under there.
