617 replacement fuel line specs

I've spent a few hours searching the forum and reading up on the preferred types of fuel replacement line, especially for those running biodiesel (e.g. Viton, polyurethane, even weed-wacker line...!?). Anways, I am leaning toward clear polyurethane line from McMaster.

What I haven't found are the fuel line ID and OD specs for 617 engines. I'd like to replace all of the soft fuel lines - cloth return lines, the intermittent short rubber lines from the tank, etc. Can a 617 owner steer me towards purchasing the right ID/OD lines?

I guess I should also be prepared to defend my decision to go with McMaster polyurethane vs. Viton...

I've run bio (different blends for different weather, but at least b20 in the tank at any given time) for about 25k miles. The OEM braided hoses don't last long at all. The main fuel lines (5/16 or 8mm ID) are holding up pretty well. The viton I buy for the return lines is 1/8" Id, 1/4" Od, 1/16" Wall. I've tried the green weedeater fuel line, and that lasted a little longer than the braided lines, but not by much. Viton seems to be the most reliable for me so far.

air leak

Thanks for the return line specs. I've had some major symptoms of air in the system during startup, and I suspect that I have leaky fuel lines. Hopefully replacing the return and main lines will fix the issue.

What is a good (cheap) source for Viton? McMaster carries it for ~ $4 per foot.

That's a good price, assuming you're talking about the injector return lines. I've bought viton from **************.com (more than $4/ft IIRC), so now I'm trying fryerpower.com (about $3/ft w/free shipping).
