Are the Nissens radiators aluminium or copper? I need a new one soon and have looked at both brands on the web.

The Behr radiator has an inside metal sleeve at the hose opening. Like the original it is there to prevent breakage due to an overtightened hose. The Behr was an exact match for the original. Good Luck

Second best, Behr is what they get at the factory.

There are plenty of original Behr radiators that don't have that metal sleeve.
The Nissens radiators use glass reinforced plastic, anyway. They might not need a metal sleeve.

I bought a Behr full price off fast lane a few years ago when mine started leaking. It was expensive! No problems since though....

No sympathy from me, Behr is the only company that makes radiators for SDL's...and when I bought mine 4 years ago it was $400, must be more now.

With an SDL you have two options, a Behr or custom.

I suspect that it would be tough to find a MB on its third radiator. In most cases, the second radiator probably lasts longer than the car.

People diss the aluminum and plastic raditors, but the original in my car lasted 18 years. Most cars get junked before that!

If it lasts 18 years its a good design in my book. The new ones are reinforced even more so they should last longer...

If you're looking for one for an SDL I searched high and low and finally found a Behr for just under $300 shipped. Theres nothing else available from what I found.

As for Nissens, I have two, and one gets punished pretty regularly and is holding up fine.

I'm still on an original 1979 Behr. I've taken the tanks off and rodded the core once and it's all good now but the copper fines are very deteriorated and falling apart. Nearly 30 years isn't too bad. It is original as I bought the car off THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND IT HAD A FULL SERVICE RECORD WHICH IS ALSO A BIT DETERIORATED. I'd go for the behr again unless the other ones availble are way cheaper. My chunky German sausage fingers keep hitting the caps lock key.
