Wastegate actuator swap for OM603.971?
I did the EGR delete kit on my 1995 S350 (W140, OM603.971) and then got a warning from gsrx that it could kill the turbo boost.
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=92534&page=18&highlight=computer+egr It did... That lead me to the thread "Wastegate actuator swap for OM602.962?" http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=212097&highlight=egr+computer Now I am wondering if I can pull the actuator off of my 87 300D (W124, OM603.912) and use it... And use the over pressure sensor and overboost cut out valve to protect the engine from overboost. -Jim

Not as easy as yes but it's possible assuming both are Garrett turbos. I had to do some customizing to get it to work but I don't remember the details. IIRC the .97 rod doesn't thread onto the .96 actuator so I pressed a flat section in the .96 rod, which is too long, and drilled a hole to slip over the wastegate lever pin. I transferred the .96 wastegate arm to the .97 wastegate shaft so there wouldn't be a stroke difference due to leverage.
DaveM/gsxr has the turbo I modded. Maybe he can make sense of my modifications. Sixto 87 300D |
