Help!!!! Need help with 190d engine!!!
Hello. I just bought an 86 190D 2.5. The starter just went out on it and I am trying to fix it myself. I'm not that far. I have the drivers front wheel off and the air filter off. I have a subscription to alldatadiy and they have the wrong info on there regarding removing the air filter. So can anyone help me with directions on how to remove this. I have some pictures as well so you can see what I'm working with. Any help is appreciated.

There are four 10mm nuts, two on each side of the box, easiest to use a 1/4" drive socket with a short extension. Lower one on the rear (right) side is a PITA to see but once you have the general location it is easy to get by feel.
After you remove the nuts, pull the box out slightly to clear the studs then jiggle it downward and the rubber sleeves will pull right off the intake manifold. Jim

I'm pretty sure the starter comes out in the upward direction, so you need to remove whatever is between 'up' and the starter. Is the oil filter housing in the way? I don't remember for sure.

Another issue...
THere is a hose at the end of the Intake with a nut (possibly?) on it. HOw do I get it off, what size nut is it? I'm so confused...
