No Power Steering

I've had my power steering disconnected for the past month or so, and I love it!

Am I adding a damaging amount of stress to the steering system?

You may..... logically speaking, I'm guessing that MB put the pwr strg system for a reason....

The parts your stressing are any steering parts before the power steering box. The only thing id be worried about is that rubber dampener flex disk thing near where the steering shaft (don't know my terminology in this area) exits the firewall. Those are 80 bucks a piece and Id imagine if it fails you could loose control. Keep an eye on it, especially if you've ever had a fuel leak in there

I'd be more worried about the steering wheel. The spokes feel like they are designed to break if forced to turn (like somebody trying to break the steering lock).

There is a non-power steering box that will fit from many 200D, 220D and 200 models in europe.

I think they are designed to break if your body hits the wheel in a crash

Good to know; I'll keep an eye on the flex disc. Once you're up above 15mph it's not that hard to turn the wheel. Not having power steering helps you plan where/how you choose your parking sites
