anyone have W124 300D road test copies?

I would love to find some Road & Track, Car & Driver, etc... road tests relevant to my 92 300D. Anyone have scanned copies handy? I can dig around at the library if not, and try to provide some if others might be interested. Thanks in advance!

It's coming along! Next on the list is to replace the driver rear door check That should be fun getting the panel off

Other than that, I think I am nearing a point where I can just enjoy the ride for a while!

Then it'll be time to start saving for the spring..I'd like to freshen up the suspension a bit.

Cheers to that. Hopefully mine will be in the same shape once I get a proper alignment.

Door panel removal is pretty simple, sliding up and out of the clips instead of those stupid christmas-tree clips the domestics use.

Most domestics have gone away from Xmas tree clips. Most fords I have worked on are slide up and out units now.

IIRC Road and Track tested a 350SDL and a 300D 2.5 at the same time. I need to dig that article up.

I did both of my rear door checks, not a big job. When removing the inner door panel, remember to remove the ash tray first, then the ash tray frame. (Optionally, you can remove the frame with the ashtray in it – it's easier to see what you're doing if you remove the ashtray first.) Note that the ash tray frame has two plastic clips or hooks; in each door panel, one clip helps hold the panel to the inner metal door. These clips often are broken by trying to lever the frame out the wrong way. As I recall, the frame pulls out at the bottom and swivels so that the plastic hook detaches from the door.

Next, remove the puddle lamp, unclip its wires, and stuff them back inside out of the way.

After removing the door-handle hardware and the locking knob, the panel can be lifted up and off. There are at least a half dozen plastic hooks that hold the panel onto the metal door. Once the panel is off, you can remove the door check and install the new one.

Replacing the door skin is mostly a job of getting the panel hooked at the top while making sure all of the plastic hooks get into their holes. Probably easier to do this with the window rolled down.

I have the car+driver issue with our car's road test, it was sometime in 91, I think...
Never scanned it, and, as you may well imagine, cannot find it right now.
If it pops up i'll digitize it.

Unfortunately, I am doing this on the one door that the window does not work! But, all the better reason to get that panel off and have a look.
