Anyone have a wiper motor...
for a 92 300D? Mine just doesnt seem to want to go. I turn it on, and it is SLOW to get going, kinda pauses about half way through, sometimes makes me wonder if it is actually even going to make it across. I think it is time for a replacement.

I replaced mine with one pulled from a W124 from a junkyard. Any W124 will have the same motor (AFAIK), and there are usually quite a few of them in the junkyard (gasser 124s that is). It's easy to pull at the junkyard.
You could also have stiff wiper arm levers and stuff, but that is less likely than the motor being bad.

I have a motor.
You will want to check the transmission however, the grease gets thick and causes these things to go slow, there was a post about a year ago where someone re-lubed his and all was well.

+1 on the transmission. I just changed the entire assembly on my '95 E300D. Similar symptoms as you had. Wiper going slower and slower over the course of several months to the point of just barely making it.
I hit the local recycler yard and they had one. Motor and trans all in one assembly. I think I paid $150. The one I got was from an earlier year car with a different gasket, etc. but I was able to put the original gasket on the replacement unit. Here's a thread which describes the ordeal. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=207236&highlight=wiper+transmission Rgds, Chris W. |
