Crossover from turbo to exaust leaking

I changed the turbo on 1987 300D and looks like I have smoke coming out of the crossover conection when I am cranking the engine...
I thought I sealed it well... does anyone have a tip on how to deal with that?

I've never had that accordion section out of my '87 but have had the same thing out of my '85, when I was removing the trap cat for testing purposes only. As I recall, the thing is held on by two heavy clamps. Make sure the accordion section is over the turbo and the exhaust pipe correctly, that it is not on backwards (if there is a "backwards"), that the clamps are tight and located on the correct part of the accordion, that the accordion is not cracked from years of heat and vibration. (My 85's EGR accordion flex section was cracked all the way in half – granted it was copper, not stainless – all the same, worth checking.)

I know the accordion part is not backwards, because I haven't removed it from a metal part of the turbo.
There is also a crossover tube inside the accordion crossover, I am pretty sure I have it seated corectly.
I am thinking about applying a large amount of high temp copper gasket maker between accordion and exaust pipe and turbo then tightening the clamps again. Wonder if that will help!
I would HATE taking the turbo out again, just thinking about it makes me mad

The accordian part is a ***** to get off, because it is crimped around the flange of the wastegate part of the turbo and crimped onto the exhaust pipe. Be sure that the bead of the casting on the turbo is slid inside of the flex-pipe flange, then crimp it down throroughly with the clamp. Hopefully that's all that's missing.

I have oil leaking from my turbo and a leaking bellows and my 300sdl. How was it removing the turbo? Any tips? Did you rebuild it yourself?

I'll be honest, it was a PITA! I was actually able to pull it up from the top after I removed the exaust manifold. Make sure you don't strip the bolts on the oil return line. Unbolt everything from the bottom first.
I actually bought a good used turbo...
