There's a thread

I've got the closing type outlet so I don't think I have anything to loose except one less POD to keep replacing. I plan to do mine when I replace the cracked dash. I've also got to replace the windshield and seal so I plan to do the dash with the windshield out. Wouldn't that make it really simple?

I think it would make more sense to replace the windsheild with the dash out. Almost the same thing.

You got it in this weekend! Cool. Everyone seems to dread the job, but it really isn't that bad. It looks a lot better than the cracked nasty dash you pulled out. I think if you swapped the under dash panels with black ones it would look even better. Being an owner of a blue interior 123 the black dash looks out of place, but it's just because I'm not used to seeing that. But every other 123 interior has a black dash.

The black dash looks great, but I like a black dash compared to colored dashes. the colored ones reflect onto the windshield making it harder to see. kind of like a white piece of paper does.
changing the center console to black will make it flow together and look more factory. the center slide control opens/closes the center vents, right? at least on the 240D. then I should be able to add that to my 85 300D also making the center vents work and getting rid of the vac. pod. now you need a dash cover to protect your new dash from cracking. then just remove it for the GTG and watch everyone OOOOW and AAAAH over the crack free dash Charlie

Anyone have an uncracked 123 dash for sale? I need one for my '85.

I would look at the kickplates directly underneath the dash to replace with a matching black. It may be that its just the angle of the shot that makes it stick out, but other than that, it looks fine.

IMO using black kick plates would look out of place without the rest of the interior being black.
Here's my factory wagon interior: Here my factory coupe interior. The dash pad is to help keep the dash in it's current crack-free condition.

I agree, my black dash has the tan kickplates.
