It goes to the trash can at the car's house and finds out what is written on the cans which were used to charge it up...

I've heard of sniffers that detect refrigerant in the cabin vents. Those have nothing to do with contaminated refrigerant. Do you draw a sample of refrigerant into this device to determine what's in it?

If you search for the part number on Google, the user manual comes up. Strangely (or not), there seems to be at least two identical brands of this device.

You do run a sample through the device. It uses some sort of IR sensor.

I bought one of these on E-bay a couple of years ago, it works very well. Another nice feature of this particular unit is that it will also identify the percentage of non-condensables (air) in the system.
