26 hour road trip

I left the middle of Long Island and drove to Wellington, FL. Ya gotta leave at night if you want to avoid NY to DC traffic, so that's what I did. Slept at rest stops- love the wagon with the back seats down. Stopped for fuel, sleep, and food. Started with just under full oil on the dipstick, and ended with just over half. Last hour was Caddy CTS doing between 70 and 100, so I stuck on his tail- nice Italian tune-up at the end. Purple springs up front make for a very nice handling car at 80 mph. Nary a issue at all. I did it with the boat last week and clocked 1086 miles. My odo is in kilometers and did not keep track on land. I'm having the wind down Guinness as I type, then sleep and take tomorrow off.

Nice trip William. I was going to take Alex to Illinois, but I have to take the truck and tow my niece's car home to change engines instead. I'd rather take the Benz, for sure.

Thumbs up

Good to read. I, too, sometimes take to the road late in the night. Usually in my old diesel van, but recently in my 300D. Load up the trunk with cans of bio. Take out the passenger and back seats- drive and sleep in comfort. Even the wind down Guiness (or sometimes Newcastle) sounds familiar. Happy travelling.
