My passengers are way more confortable now!
I blame diametricalbenz for sending me out on a hunt for him and I found this for instead for myself… REAR HEADREST!
I bought from the donor car the whole rear seat back which has tobacco interior and the famed bunny ears headrest. I just took the hardware, along with front palomino headrest from another donor car and installed them in my car. Now my backseat passengers are no longer going to have neck cramps and whiplash from a potential rear end collision (god forbid!). As installed. Not bad for 50 bucks in parts eh?

2.88 diff!
The other thing I did this week was to install my 2.88 differential. Highway cruising is a lot more comfortable in the 2.88 as opposed to the 3.07 gear set.
The only issue I have is that I can’t seem to give up my original speedo. It is too nice to break up! At the showing 60mph, I am going about 68 according to the GPS. But very smooth. The 2.88 speedo that I have is all faded and dirty. I’ll figure out how to precisely match up the color to the original orange of the other needles. On a side note, check out this pic from my old 3.07. I used Redline synthetic gear oil. It came out looking like goo from a Nickelodeon game show!

Just install the other 2.88 speedometer and paint ALL the indicators the same color.

Welcome to the club of US spec W123 sedans that have rear headrests
There are maybe five or six of us now that I know of.

I couldn’t do that. The needles are only slightly faded. It would be a travesty if I painted over those gauges in that original condition. If they were really faded on the other hand, it would be a no brainer.

They are about as rare as Euro Spec cars in the US go. Almost all US spec 4 dr w123 sedans came with no rear headrest. Go figure.

Says people that don't know what they are talking about.
I don't like rear headrests. They take up too much visibility and they aren't very useful except in rear end collision. |

We could start one
What car did the rear seat come from? Looks like a W123/W116...?

Maybe a noob response, so be patient with me. On the speedo question, in all the cars/trucks I've worked on in the past, that was controlled by the speedo gear in the trans. I have zippo experience with the process in a Mercedes car, but we always checked the odometer accuracy by attaching to the speedo cable where it enters the instrument cluster. It didn't matter what make or model we were working with, foreign or domestic, everything turned the speedo cable x rotations per mile. FWIW, my experiences included medium-duty Mercedes trucks.
If MB does it differently, then it has to be in the speedo/odo unit where the speedo cable attaches to the instrument cluster. Assuming that is the case, couldn't you simply pop off the speedo needle, swap the speedo/odo cluster from the 2.88 car (resetting the odometer numbers to match the current 3.08 numbers), assemble the 2.88 unit into the primo instrument face, reattach the primo needle, and be done?
