what's the market like now?

DO you think that wagons have kept the value is terms of selling price in the last year? We read about the "cheap" wagon club... but have you seen diesel wagons that still sell for high prices? I have a line on a 87 TD but would have to sell my wife's car first.

edit: the poll question should read "good" not "gooc"

ebay is a good research tool. if you search on completed listings you can get an idea whats selling for what. seems like everything is down, consider the one you're buying is probably cheaper too so the difference should be the same

Too many variables to call this one way or another at present. Condition of the wagon will dictate a lot now more than ever perhaps. I am still trying to figure exactly what is actually happening out there.

My simple suspicion is there is just too much demand for credit now to be serviced. What is worse the credit needs are fundementally poor risks. Major taxpayer loans and giveaways to basically insolvent reciepients and corporations are what is now and has been occuring. If those people and institutions are not serviced an economic collapse occurs.

If this is true the true costs of delaying a collapse are massive. Without radical change the collapse still occurs at some point.Or just in a more gradual fashion. In the final anyalisis a government will also sacrifice everything to retain power longer unfortunatly.

So the future price of used material goods like the station wagon or my family holdings is highly dependant on what if any new course of action in north america is chosen. Just my opinions.

region is a big factor here. It was impossible to find a wagon 2 years ago. It was even harder to buy one when they popped up. While currently I see at least 1-2 new 123s showing up on C-list everday. But the populous here is still suffering from delusions of grandeur with respect to 'fair market value'.

One thing is for sure, people are probably more likely to be buying used cars these days than new. New cars are really moving slowly.

Everything is down. I just bought a 100,000mile '94 E 320 for under a grand, am looking at a '93 500SEL for about $1500, turned down a '91 300E for $1500 (that one needs work), ... diesels are down also.

The recession is just getting under way. Everything is down a little, but just give it six months or so.

Bah! I'm a member of the CWC, and I don't think it has changed much at all. People are still willing to pay stupid amounts for a good example, so if you're considering selling I would wait until the Spring and go for it.

... then you can really find a cheap wagon... (if you can afford gas).

after x-mas, alot of people are going to be desperate. Heat energy always does them in, and lavish Pine tree ornaments never flatter Santa enough.

Well the only silver lining to this is that energy costs are coming down.

Other than a few oddball, ridiculously priced listings, the market seems way down for the w123 wagons--both on e-bay and on the local listings. I figure it's going to stay that way since diesel is not likely to come down to the level of gas prices and bio is insanely high. I guess I'm stuck with mine for awhile unless I can get someone who wants to svo convert to buy it. The thrill of fixing the constant deluge of problems with these cars has long since gone.
