Front End Squeek/Creak
I've got a creak on the dirvers side front end, i can recreate it by pushing down on the front corner or going over a bump like a speed bump.
So my question is where to start? Shocks? Bushings? Springs? Thanks

Use a can of silicone spray and spray bushings one at a time and then bounce the car until you find the one that makes the squeak go away.

OK cool, bushings is where to start, i appreciate it. I have all the parts to rebuild the front end so I may just start on that process.

I had a similar problem, turned out to be my lower ball joint. Check for torn boots. I eventually replaced it.

Lower ball joint is common, I agree. It's the only ball joint on the 124. Can be the sway-bar end also.

This is your '84 300D? Seems like I've got a similar creak on my '83 240D. I've been told its the upper control arm bushings. I've got UCAs ordered, with luck I'll replace this weekend.
The upper ball joint isn't replacable on its own, you replace the whole UCA. Fortunately its only about $45 a side and doesn't seem difficult.

I reciently rebuilt my whole front end (except for the lower ball), and I'm still getting it.
I wanted to do the LBJ but didn't have the means.

If you have shocks, and figure you need them, why not.
The bolts holding the shock on have loctite on them, so you could lust put the old ones back on with new loctite, and test drive. Not difficult to replace those shocks without removing the LCA. The FSM instructs you to remove the spindle and put in a vise to R'n'R the lower ball joint. I decided to have it done by a shop. They were able to swap it out on the car.
