Did I just lose an IP?
I was working on my sons car (84 300D). While working on it, it was running just fine, then all of a sudden, the idle slowed and then it died out. We have not been able to start it since.
I took some fresh diesel and ran it direct to to the car from a 5 gallon 'can' and it still didnt start. I tried checking the fuel flow, by removing the end of the cigar hose. There was some flow, but not a lot. I then tried opening up one of the lines to an injector, and there was no flow. An interesting thing happens... I have a cracked return fuel line and when I use the primer pump, fuel comes through that crack. Sounds like I lost an IP, doesnt it.

Keep using the 5 gallon can but un-hook the hose that goes to the Vacuum Shutoff and do a lot of pumping on the hand primer to clear the air out of the IP housing.
You can also leave some of the Injector Line Nuts open to see if fuel comes out. With the Hose off of the Vacuum Shutoff you should get fuel up by the Injectors. Or. Do as you did with the 5 gallon Can and leave open up all of the lines at the Injectors. Do a lot of pumping on your Hand Primer to bleed the air out of the IP housing. Continue to pump on the Hand Primer while someone else cranks your Engine and see if you get fuel coming out up by the Injectors. If this works tighten up the Injector Line Nuts. Have someone try to start the Car for you while you again pump on the hand primer. If the car starts stop pumping and see how long the car runs. If after you stop pumping the Hand Primer the Engine dies on you again you have a Fuel supply problem not a problem with the IP itself.
