*&*^&^%&*^ rats with antlers!!
Well it finally happened, on my way home (less than 4 miles to go) a large buck decided to dash across the road and ran smack into the drivers front fender. I called the insurance, fortunately it goes against my comprehensive, so only $100.00 deductible. My biggest fear is they wont be able to match up the silver. I am going to bite the bullet if need be and have them spray the whole side of the car. The hood is tweaked, and fender is rubbing against the front door. UGHHHH..

How is the deer?

My friend who does some paint work suggests you be sure they use a "paint chromagraph", and that any good paint shop would do this. It analyses the colors in your paint, then they can take the paint they mix up, paint something and let it dry, and then compare that to the car.

Silver metalic is very hard to match as the finish appearance depends on application air pressure etc. Tell the body shop to paint the whole car but include the additional in the insurance cost or most of it.
Usually not a lot more work than painting basically one side. On top of that your old silver might be faded. I know a color match spectograph can match the fading pretty well but it cannot help on how the present silver was originally sprayed. Depending on your insurance company they may even baulk at painting any more than the fender. Hopefully your company is a little more generous. I could as easily develop a rant about my love for insurance companies. |
Most expensive meat you'll even buy
On a side note: I always call them rats with antlers too |
Was the deer still alive after you hit it? You could have cut it up and eaten it at least. My dads friend did that once when he hit one, payback!:D

On the way to a meeting about seventy five miles away this evening I just narrowly avoided hitting two deer. Recovering from the near miss and doing the speed limit a car ran a stop sign and went sailing across a major highway in front of me. This was about a mile further down the road. If I had not lost some momentum in the swerve for the deer chances are one of us would have hit the other broadside. I estimated less than two seconds earlier and It would have occured. It was pretty close and the deer perhaps saved me instead tonite.

Last spring I had a deer run into the side of my car. I was in the mountains, on a back road, going maybe 15 mph because I have seen many deer in the area before and all of a sudden, WHAM! a deer ran right into my door. I was shocked to say the least. It left a dent in the door, but not bad enough for me to do anything about it yet...
