I looked at a 55k 1982 300D in LA. It was in immaculate physical shape, but it was obviously a car that had probably seen little maintenance, due to how infrequently it was driven. It looked like it had the original air filter...

I'm of the mindset to buy a cheap one, and use that extra 12-15K for the parts that inevitably break. Not to say I'm not jealous of those who can afford a mint car, and maintain it as such.

The lowest mileage I've seen was on my 300CD when I saw it on the showroom floor at Stephenson Motors back in 1984 - it had 51 miles on the odometer. That was 24 years and 225K miles ago.

A year or so ago there was a silver coupe, a 300CD, not sure of the year, which a dealer owned and it was at his summer home in a fishing village in Alaska and it had 9000 plus miles on it.

When I got my 190E after my grandfather passed (willed to me) it only has 20,100 miles on it. Less that 20 miles later the odo stopped turning, and that was a year ago.

I'd say at this point it has roughly 35ish on it now.

Bought my 77 300d with 54k miles from the husband of the deceased original owner. Garaged it's whole life and sold to me in spite of an earlier offer from another buyer because my wife reminded him of his recently deceased spouse.

There were a couple (or maybe it was the same one) 92-93 300Ds on ebay this past summer with only 9k...I think it sold for like 10 grand maybe?
But from what I hear, driving a car that little would probably have negative consequences....
Still neat to see one in showroom condition!

Elvira have been worth every penny of the $36,663 that I paid for her and will probably outlast me.
Before Elvira, I bought a new '79 300CD, drove it 200K miles, gave it to my son who drove it to 425K miles then nated it to Houston Can Academy, it was bought by a Houston pharmacist who still has it and it's now got over 600K miles.

That's low mileage alright but mine was lower:
32 miles when I bought it in 1983, also from Stephenson Motors (in Dallas). You're aslo ahead of me in total miles but then you did start with more.

I miss Stephenson Motors - Park Place is really good, but just isn't the same.
