83 300sd Engine Rebuild Thread
I am in the beginning of a rebuild of my 83 300sd engine. This will be my third rebuild, first Mercedes. I was hoping to get advice from the expirienced people on this forum.
Cylinder Head has been pulled and cleaned up. I planned on replacing the valve seals ($20). Not sure about the valve guides. Intakes appears tight, but all of exhaust valves seems loose. I just jiggled them, I did not measure them. The valves will need to be reground. The chambers and cam shaft all appear to be in good shape. What is a fair price to have the valves reground? Repairing valve guides? Are there any conditions on the head I should keep an eye on? |

The cost to do the valves and skim the head isn't too great.........it's the prechambers and springs that usually add to the bill significantly. |
