squicking noise in the cabin

I have an '87 300TDT with about 200m miles that recently got a do-over climate control system and a new "used" dashboard so I am pretty proud of my accomplishments and more attuned to other things that are wrong with my car: all kinds of "squicky" squicks I hear from all around the cabin but can not pinpoint. Sounds familiar to anyone? I swear I am not abusing any illegal substances....

I eliminated ALL the squeaks in my w123 wagon, by going through everything and tightening the screws and replacing any broken fasteners.

The only thing that still squeaks is my passenger seat. The MB-tex rubs the seat height adjustment handle when someone is sitting in it. I need to figure out how to silence that one and I'm done.

MB-tex upholstery rubbing against other surfaces could very well be the reason. Is there some kind of surface treatment to stop it?

I was thinking of putting a little self-adhesive moleskin on the back side of the handle where it rubs. I tried lubing the area with 303, but it only worked until it wasn't wet anymore.

I could also put a stitch in the side of the seat skin and attach it like a leash to the inside of the seat frame, so when someone sits in the seat, the side material folds differently than it does now and misses rubbing on the handle.

303 Aerospace Protectant. It's like an Armorall that won't cause cracks and offers UV protection.

I use silicone grease. It's plastic-compatible, and available at hardware stores as "plumber's grease" is a clearish gel. Wipe it on, wipe it off, it leaves behind a slippery surface that doesn't squeak against the seatbelt receiver et al.

Cool tip. I'll give this a try.

Thanks for the tip and hope you do not have to part with your 124...

My 300sdl had many creaks. The mbz dealer parts cleark advised Wurth "Rubber Care Gel-Stick" (about $15) around the door jams and other plastic vinyl contact points. I had especially good results by treating the door and the vinyl jam, most creaks appeared to come from bottom of my doors. Only downside, a treatment only lasts a few months.

Right on! Door jambs(the plastic covers to be exact) rubbing on the undersides of the door panels are the culprit as far as I can tell. Thanks CANDIE!
