I'm ashamed after seeing this

Here's what some of our cars looked like when they were new.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___1981-MERCEDES-BENZ-240D-Diesel-Low-Miles-1-OWNER-RARE_W0QQitemZ320322061971QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20TrucksQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash= item320322061971&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1308

I'm thinking about getting a large black tarp to throw over my clunker, cut a few holes so I can see to drive.

I think the windshield may possibly be a replacement, since the "Daimler" sticker isn't of the correct vintage.

Amazing how well some folks (in mild climates) can preserve a car so well for so many years.

that thing could be in a museum.

Looks like they doctored up the bottom with some fresh under coat.

Did 81 have the small turn signal arrows?

It did come from PA. wonder what lurkes underneith all the luster ?

can you emagine paying that much for that old of a car, then getting into a fender bender, and the insurance adjuster toataling it?
then buying it back and end up with a salvage title.

Yeah dude it`s only worth $1500.00. take it or leave it.

yeah but you don`t understand, I paid $17,000 for it last week.

You paid WHAT? look kid, that is an old car, lucky Iam giving you the $1500.

That car's been making the rounds. It was on bringatrailer.com a few weeks ago. I'm so used to british cars I had a hard time believing any car looked that good new, which made me a little suspicious, especially the decals under the hood. Who knows, maybe they did look that good, but man, that's perfection.

Not sure about 81, but my 82 has big arrows. Is that the defrost switch that has excessive wear? I would have put in a proper MB battery for that price.
