W124 IP Injection Pump Governor

Does anyone know what the function of the governor in the IP for a 1990 300D? Anyone have a picture? Is it known to fail? Is it vacuum, mechanical, or electric controlled? There's very little info on this for the later diesels and I have only found info for the 240D's.
Let me know!!!

After reading your other post....

Try pulling your codes with the car running. The area that looks damaged is the start of delivery adjuster. Kinda hard to tell with out a reference mark in the pic. You may want to clean the couplers and check the wires on all of the electronic components.

Wow I remember this thread

Last week I advanced the IP timing (turned delivery valves away from engine) and the car started, idled, ran better, less klack, with more power. Then of course the IP oring started to leak oil. I recorded the timing with the IP lock tool installed and I was at about 34 degrees BTDC. And just in case you didn't know the IP is suppose to be installed with locking tool at 15 ATDC.

Well I took my injector pump back off and sent it to Bosch to fix the IP timing indicator. I just had the pump rebuilt a year ago.

Is it possible to incorrectly install the tang position for the lock tool or RIV sensor? And yes both #1 intake and exhaust cam lobes were pointing up.

Please reference www.w124performance.com/OM603_injection/governor_removed3.jpg for illustrated view.

I#m not sure that both of those can be true, it sounds more like the pump has been retarded.

Sorry for not typing the address correctly.

http://www.w124performance.com/images/OM603_injection/governor_removed3.jpg

The shop said that they are redoing the timing. I sure would like to know how that tang is suppose to align with the rest of the internals.

Anyone have pictures of this removed? Anyone work in this area?
