This one has me puzzled
My speedometer and cruise control went out at the same time on my 84 300SD. I have tried to figure out what is the common denominator. The only thing I can think of is the cruise amplifier. Can anyone help me out on this one? Any thoughts will be appreciated .

the cruise picks up the speed from the speedo which I believe is electric on your car? Check your connections on and around the speedo, and then check at the rear of the trans on the drivers side to make sure the wire didnt come off trans. Cruise amp will only effect Cruise, not Speedo, but a defective speedo will stop both from functioning.

maybe speedo cable,if the cruise uses a signal from the speed sensor on the back of the speedo. Don

Things to check
Fuse Speedometer drive on transmission Speedometer wire from transmission to instrument cluster Connection on speedometer Ground connections on instrument panel Good luck!
