I have a 95 E300D and my block heater does not work. my mechanic said he cannot find a stock replacement one. I was hesitant to replace this because of the chance of cracking the block.

so did anyone install a aftermarket one on this year car, and if so which one.

I recently replaced the block heater in my '95.

Rusty at buympparts was able to get me the MB part - it was about $120 as I recall, I had to call and talk with him, it's not listed on his site.

I was able to get the old one out with a 1 13/16" socket and a long breaker bar.

The heater came with the proper insulated power cord that was long enough to string to the front of the car under the front grille.
