Oil Drain Tube/Aftermarket Intake

Does anyone know where the oil drain tube for the crankcase vent goes on a 300D? i bought an aftermarket intake for my 300SD and it doesn't have that tube so i need to retrofit something...I don't remember the tube going into the oil pan on my old 300D. now i just have 2 open hoses and i am losing oil through both of them. i also need to make a fitting for the elbow of the intake for the blowby vent.

Probably not the answer you're looking for, but I don't take it as a good sign of part quality when the aftermarket kit doesn't have provisions for allowing the normal operation of something important such as the crankcase vent system.

The tube on a turbo 300D is located near the Air cleaner housing bracket. Snakes down to the oil pan near the turbo oil line. Now a 300D/SD '85 turbo Cali version, there is no tube.

Not very nice to the pavement, the earth or anything that lives on it. Not a big hassle to make/install a oil vapor sep unit.

so the question is if i make a fitting in the side of my oil pan for a drain tube will it work? the problem i can see is if there is a positive pressure and oil gets pushed up the drain tube. i know the stock tube goes into the top of the casting that the drain pan is mounted to.

Your right. That is why the stock oil separator setup has check valve. You can still make a fitting on the side of the oil pan, in addition installing a check valve to prevent oil from pushing up.

But the question I have is.. Why the change? The '85 Cali setup flows very good already. It would be hard to make it better, even with aftermarket stuff.

because there has to be somewhere for the oil to go.
