Weird, I had Advance Auto Glass (same company as safelite apparently) replace mine last year when a rock hit it.

It cracked a month later. So they replaced it under warranty (in my driveway) and all has been well ever since, that was a year ago. The guy did a good job too...I was amazed.

I hope the paint work portion of the estimate includes spraying the entire car, because matching white isn't easy unless you're a painting god of some sort.

Don't trust Safelite to do anything correctly on any car, old or new. Some of their technicians are obviously people that care, but for the most part, they cut corners and just generally sloppy. They have managed to ruin a windshield and a rear window on an S-10 I owned years ago. More recently, they replaced a friend's windshield, and managed to not trim the urethane bed down enough, so now the glass is sitting about 3/8th of an inch above the body panel it should be flush with. A different friend of mine ended up with slices in their interior A-pillar trim thanks to Safelite. I have also watched two windshield installations performed by Safelite technicians from the apartment I was living in six months ago, and neither of them were performed correctly! No test fitting, no careful removal of trim - just slashing, slicing, squirting, and slapping. They have no pride in workmanship, and don't care if you are happy or not once they have your money.

I got a small chip in my windshield, had it "fixed". No way I want to go through another windshield replacement.

BTDT. Also, can't completely trust dealers, not only do they make mistakes also, but some of them outsource the glass replacement.

That's really surprising. Most businesses these days seem to have the model of screw them let them sue and "then" do the right thing only because its cheaper at that point than paying the lawyers.

Next time. Do yourself a big favor. Don't go to a "generic" shop even if it seems more convenient. Unless your going to someone who works on these cars all day your going to get a substandard job at the same price or more. Do yourself a big favor and pay the extra money for the specialist even on the simple things.
