Comments? I'll bite.

First things first....with that kind of starting bid, it better come with a few .......nevermind.

If I bought that thing, I'd be sleeping in it. And NOT in the driveway either.

Wish it were closer and had a lower starting bid.

Wonder why the Ford front end??? {I guess Allen was driving Ford?} May he RIP.
I was actually thinking that the Buy It Now price was very reasonable for an MB like this....

I almost bought a local 309D a few months back, for a little more than the starting bid on this one - and it wasn't in nearly as good of shape. If I had the cash on hand, I'd consider bidding on this one (think about it - just needs the front end fixed and some paint!). The only issue is that you're looking at ~8 mpg on these beasts and they're not exactly quick. Good tow vehicles though.

(Oh, and I thought the brakes on those were usually air over hydraulic, not straight air... it makes a huge difference!)

Yes Alan used to drive Fords. Good Ole boy from Wisconsin came to play circle track with the Southern boys and won a championship. RIP. That was a bad year for NASCAR drivers.

Alan started the polish victory lap by going counter clockwise on track.
'93 was a bad year for Ford nascar drivers, lost Davey Allison too. RIP

The Ford front end was seems to mimic Alan's Thunderbird.

As Alan's tow vehicle that may some day have some collector value. If you could get your hands on one of his old stock cars to run in historic races you would have the perfect use of it.

I wouldn't be surprised if you bought it and did research as to who owns his old race cars, you might be able to turn a profit on the sale of it to them.

Alan may be the last driver to win a championship driving his own car. He was a clean driver and seemed like a genuinely nice fellow.....and was pretty darned fast as well.

RIP indeed.

Someone on here recently bought an MB motorhome on a similar chassis. Might be a good source of parts or combining both into one. Price seems good to me for one of these MB vans.
