What part am I missing?

Ingrid is missing a part in teh headliner. (For your info, Ingrid is a 1985 300 Turbo Diesel). It's right by teh rear view mirror and looks like it should be some cover. Anyone know what is is and where I can find it?

ok, is it above the rear view, a pic usually helps

If you mean the forward headliner( forward of the sunroof) then those can be purchased easily since members here have parts cars.

there is also a map light up there to.

Both the mirro and dome light are there. It looks like some sort of acess cover for a wire or plug.

There's nothing it that area but the dome light, mirror, and the two clips for the sun visors.

You have the rare map light Jeremy. I found two, but they are far and few.

what are you growing in the back ground, ?

Charlie, the dome+map light came out of a junkyard W126 as I recall. Took quite a bit of looking to find it. The nice thing is that it is exactly the same size as the original W123 light and electrically plug and play so no modifications were necessary. Just one of the reasons I hate to sell that car.

The green stuff in the background (through the windshield) is California Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) and on the right the trunk of a gingko (Gingko biloba), you can see the leaves through the sunroof.

It's this right here, between the mirror and the dome light.

Not familiar with 123's but that looks like the size and shape for a temp sensor for the heater.

That looks like maybe a heat sensor for the climate control would fit in there. like the one on the center of the dash.

I think the w126 have the sensor by the mirror.

Jerremy, I was just funnin with you . also looks like some Buck eye mixed in there.

that map light works good while my wife is trying to get us lost while I read it and drive.

MB must not have installed many of them.
