SLS pump have to be primed?

When the system has been taken apart for major service? How do I know if it is working properly? My Wagon sits up straight, but sometimes feels a little soggy in the rear end! Sorta like me at a late New Years Eve party!

The SLS system is self priming and bleeding. All you have to do is keep it filled with oil.

Cool! I guess mine is working fine then. Oil looks clean with no debri or discoloration and it does sit straight on level ground!

The biggest test probably is how does it ride?

It seems to ride ok. Once it's moving it seems like it rides level, but during acceleration and when it upshifts, it seems as if the nose goes a little higher for a few seconds unlike my 300D. How soon does the SLS respond when a sudden load is put on the rear?

It is a slow and steady raising of the back of the wagon. Almost imperceptible unless you pic a stationary object and watch a fixed area on the wagon.
With SLS issues the ride is either very harsh and bouncey or it is too soft as in riding on the springs only. I've had SLS's have both issues......

.
Or put your foot out the door on the ground when you start the car after sitting for a while. I am always amazed at how small a change in ride height I can detect using this method. In fact, I used to think I had an idle problem in cold weather until I left my foot out one day and realized that the lack of a smooth idle was a result of the engine building pressure in the SLS. When the visually imperceptible increase in ride height stopped, the lack of pump load caused the engine to smooth right out.
