I've had this car for a year now, put on 24,000 miles. Never a problem staring it. This morning I start it and it idles for 5 seconds, the idle deteriorates during the next two seconds and it shuts off. Attempt subsequent starts exact same result. 10 attempts, exact same result. I change both fuel filters, exact same result. I plug in the block heater, 4 hours later attempt to start it, this time it starts and runs but again after 5 seconds the idle deteriorates and huge clouds of whitish grey smoke from the exhaust. While it's still running, barely, I check some vacuum lines and disconnect the EGR, all smoking stops, runs as good as new. Reconnect the EGR, barely runs and huge volumes of whitish grey smoke. Let the car cool off for 4 hours attempt to start it with the vacuum attached to the EGR same 7 second run time then stalls. Remove the vacuum line from the EGR car starts normally. Anybody have an idea what's going on here?

No but it's not worth figuring it out with such an easy fix.
