need advice on steering wheel removal on 300d 123
I tried a breaker bar and taped the hex driver in snug and it began to strip the nut and wouldn't break loose. Is there a trick in removing it other that drilling the not out ro grinding it out. Help please.

Secure the wheel with a board between the wheel spoke and the floor. Don't use the locking mechanism or your "free" hand. You need both hands to keep the hex driver in place.

Pneumatic impact wrench works the best. But you can probably turn the wheel all the way to the left until is stops and try again using the breaker bar but securely in the bolt.

Not reverse thread.
I almost stripped mine: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=211808 Try a little heat, and a longer bar if you don't have an impact wrench. I had to reshape the bolt hole using a big screwdriver and hammer by putting the hex bit in the hole, and hammering the metal from the bolt back around the bit. |

You can try using a punch to tap adound the stripped out allen head. You have to smack it pretty hard so that it smashes all the material back down inside the hole. Get a good allen ! smack it a couple of times down when you have it in the hole. You will have ito impact it off- you already messed up tring to do it by hand.
I have been able to getr stripped off ones this way- good luck |
