How is this happning now...

So a long time ago i replaced my nozzle in my 300SD, and there were NO leaks, 2 months later injector # 4 (second to the firewall) is now leaking like a mad dog (but surprisingly i am still getting good MPG) I am planning to get it to take it out tomorrow so i can re torque it, will i cause any damage driving with a leaking injector??? ( i need to drive for today about less than 2 miles)

I have torqued every one of those injector at 52 pounds, So should i re torque it or get another housing or clean it even more enough, "Note" the fourth injector was not leaking until now.

Edit, also injector 4 has 2 shims at the top of the injector....

Make sure to rule out a leaking fuel line, it's easy to misdiagnose.
No problems driving it with a leak.

Like said before, I would change the hoses before an injector that new. I thought mine were leaking from the center also. A hose change and the leak was gone.

Try taking the nozzle back off and cranking the assembly down on a bench ,the 2 pieces have to be together very tight, not sure the torque ,just know to take them apart requires a vice and a good breaker bar.Remember the psi of the diesel running throught the injector is very high, any weak point will be the threaded piece.

I would tell ************** guy that he sent you a leaky injector and leave it on for now if you can tolerate it, and are sure its the injector. Tell him to send you another one. He's trying to build a business and not doing so would be a poor move given the discussions here on the forum (that I suspect he monitors). When you get it, install it, check it, then send the other one back. Of course just fixing it might be easier, but that assumes it just needs to be tightened, which might or might not work.

Edit: Hey how 'bout that it autodeleted the business name even though this is hardly an endorsement.

I thought you put these nozzles in only a month or so ago. Like others have said Tripple check it is not the return line. If it is the injector then remove the injector, take it apart and clean the mating surface on the top and bottom halves with a solivent, then re-assemble and re-torque.

I did mention that i replace my nozzle not the injector, nozzle is fine... So today i took it out and open it clean and soak it with Brake cleaner, soak it in diesel and Wire brush it with brake cleaner, i will also change the hose later... I have to check it tomorrow its really dark here. Strange only the last 2 injector is leaking, rest of them are just fine...
