Climate control defroster question

I just rebuilt my monovalve and replaced the climate control head in my 300 CD and it made a HUGE difference in every aspect of the heating system.

The pushbuttons properly change where the air flows.

The high/auto/low fan speed buttons seem to be working correctly.

Rotating the temp wheel even changes the temp of the air coming out of the system - EXCEPT when I push in the windshield defrost button on the far left.

In that operating mode the air blowing out of the defrost vents is full-on heat. No matter what the temp wheel is set to, the air from the defrost vents is always hot.

Is that normal, correct operation, or is there still something amiss with the controller?

EXCELLENT! It is actually working 100% then! First time in the 9 months I've owned the car.

When I did the engine swap I got a "new" (read not siezed) AC compressor. So now all I need to do is take it to an AC shop and have them fill it and I *should* have working AC too!

Thanks for the reply Charlie.
