Tranny Questions
What would cause first gear
to not work? 85 300td. I am going to look at one today that was parked for this reason. Would it most likely be toast, or could it still be salvaged? BTW, it is suppose to have in excess of 400k. Time for a new one?

If the Bowden cable gets disconnected or turned improperly on the linkage, you'll lose first gear and all the shifts will be very early (no throttle pressure).

I just got back from looking @ it.
I didn't think to look @ that even though I have encountered that before. Thanks

Also, varnish buildup can cause one gear not to engage..
Trans-X can sometimes cure that...cheap to try...no harm no foul if it does not work... Check archives for more info.. |
