Can anyone tell me on a 1996 Mercedes diesel is it an I 6 cyl. diesel or a V6 diesel? I assume it is a na engine? Does this model of a Mercedes have pretty good get up and go?

Yes the '96 is the first-year W210 body with the 606 naturally-aspriated (or N/A) inline six, I believe 3.2L. Very good engine, good power but not like the turbo cars, different opinions on the 210 body.

OMG YAY!
i'm finally remembering engine number like things :)

Do the 1996 have the rubber hoses that are compatable with the bio-diesel? I think it's like Vitron.

I am not up on anything post 85, but look at the motor from
one side..........do you see 3 injector lines?

If not, it is an inline.

Its a 3 litre, 24 valve straight 6.

I have the same year car, and in stop and go traffic, it is not fast off the line compared to the turbo models, but I get by in busy traffic with no problem. At highway speeds, the car handles like a dream, is safe, comfortable, and loafing at 65-75 mph. Any faster than that, and I am looking to get a ticket. Milage is excellent, getting about 26-27 in non-highway driving, and up to 35-37 straight highway at legal speeds.

The fuel lines will not deterioate from Bio usage; the orings sealing them will. Fairly simple matter to switch them over to viton orings.

MB never sold a V6 diesel in the USA until 2008.
