I'd take the FI lines off the injectors, and re torque the injectors... if that didn't work, start searching for prechamber removal and reinstallation info...

Are you starting to get a dull knock, like someone pounding a piece of wood, under acceleration loads as well?

Similar problem on the current '87. Injector return lines were old/cracked and leaking badly, forming lakes of diesel fuel around the injectors. Once I'd replaced the hoses and thought I'd blown out all the residual fuel, I started up the engine. Almost immediately a mixture of diesel fuel/spilled engine oil/whatever came bubbling up out of 3 of the injector wells, one of them enough to run down the side of the engine.

That, along with the dull knock on acceleration, leads me to believe I've got an exhaust leak past the heat shield washers and/or prechambers on at least 3 cylinders. When time allows, I'm going to replace the heat shield washers on all the injectors and retorque them, see what effect that has.

I'd agree with vstech - try retorquing the injectors first. If that has no effect, time for more serious measures.

Might be a compression leak rather than an exhaust leak.

If retorquing doesn't do it, I'd try a set of injector seals/heat shields (~$2 each) before doing more work.
