Sounds like a blender trying to fool you that its really biodiesel. I believe 'cetane' is a rating not an ingreedient.

Correct-a-mundo...

REAL biodiesel would be made from (roughly) 77+% veg oil, 22% methanol, -1% lye. No ethanol, unless you were completely replacing the methanol with it and no "cetane" as an ingredient.

B24 would have two ingredients: 76% D2 and 24% biodiesel.

In chemistry terms...

Cetane is a chemical, AKA (IUPAC name) Hexadecane. C16H34. NOT to give one of my organic chemistry lectures but it's a chain (in 'n' form) of single bonded carbon and hydrogen atoms that will ignite/combust under pressure and a little heat.

Pure cetane is rated a cetane number of 100.
In diesel engine terms it is a rating of ease of ignition,
BUT I DO AGREE that this back yard oil baron is

I actually learned that CETANE is not only a number but a chemical as well.

Like octane, in fuel its not an actual chemical but a comparison rating.

Either way, ethanol+diesel engine=bad. Ethanol is hygroscopic.

I'd visit him, have him demonstrate the fuel by pouring it into one of his OWN diesels....then running it for a while....and see what happens.
