shocks or sturts

Looking for advice. Have a 1987 300d and need to replace the shocks. Would like to know if there is any preference as to what brand and or any particular one. Always appreciate any advice

Bilstein

I just changed my struts & shocks with Bilstein Heavy Duty. My car is a W124 '95 E300D. If I did it again I might go with the Comfort models. The HD's are a little stiff (but I run 40+ lbs. of air in my tires). I would advise changing the strut mounts also. Bilsteins are the only way to go. Don't use junk like Monroe or Gabriel. However, the HD's have excellent high-speed stability. 100mph is just cruising.

I'd go for Bilsteins myself, but what are sturts?

+2 for Bilstein comforts.

I think he means STRUTS which our cars don't have.

You didn't ask what shocks not to get, but I'm going to tell you anyway. KYB. They're awful. As soon as the weather warms up I'm going to be changing to Bilsteins.

Best is relative but the FastLane link above will ensure you get what you need without hassles at a fair price.
