Blank headlight valences are something like $12 from the dealer. Headlight wipers were optional on some US 124s so you should find them in wrecking yards. Focus on 260Es, 300E 2.6s and 300D 2.5s which tend to not have wipers.
Headlights come off easily and and Depos pop right in place. The only custom work is moving the headlight wires from the 4-pin US connector to a 6-pin Euro connector. The tail light connectors of any 80s MB will work with Euro headlights. Vacuum is only needed if you want to avail of the headlight dipping feature. There's a 4-position switch that lowers the beam to compensate for a heavy tail. The headlights stay at the default level if you don't hook up the vacuum switch. Aside from the swtich, you need a headlight switch bezel to take the switch, or you can cut a hole in a US bezel. Sixto 87 300D |

so I should sort a tail light plug off 80 benz ? that will work for a headlight 4 pin to 6 pin w124 headlight
what switch are you talking about I need a different headlight switch ? forget the vacum I wont hook it up I can just keep it off or do I have to cap it ( figure cap it so its not leaking right ? )

what he meant was the taillights are pretty much hooked up the same with US/EUROS...
headlights are a different matter... there's a good how-to somewhere in here. they're installed the same way... only the wiring connectors are different... which is addressed by the diy switches are the same regardless if it has headlight dipping or not... some just came with the dipping knob... which you won't be bothering with anyway

US headlights use a 4-pin connector, Euro headlights use a 6-pin connector. You have to open the 4-pin connector and transfer the wires to a 6-pin connector. Euro headlights use 5 of the 6 pins. The 5th pin is for city lights which you can enable by jumping a wire from the park light in the turn signal.
I'm not aware of a plug-in adapter for US connector to Euro headlight. Some eBay sellers include connectors and wiring instructions with Depo and TYC headlights. Sixto 87 300D |

Sixto is correct on the headlamp setup.
As far as tail-lamps, the US left tail-lamp in '87 had a 6-pin connector, the EURO and '90-up US driver-side tail lamp has an 8-pin connector Quote:

There are also a few of the 6 pin connectors for sale on ebay- somewhat pricey, but if you have no other way of obtaining them, it isn't that bad.
I like my Depo lights, overall. I got generic Hella bulbs, and they are worlds better than stock.. The light pattern is a bit odd, though, compared to most new cars. I must first mention that I have not had them professionally adjusted, but they seem to be pretty close to where they should be. The overall "front of car lighted area" isn't as big as most new cars, BUT one feature that I like is that there is a weaker overall beam that illuminates anything reflective at a very good distance..I'd say much better than new cars. For me, that means seeing deer's eyes long before I would need to panic, which is one reason I got new headlights in the first place. Also, be sure to get the headlight mounting kit off of one of the online stores if you need it, otherwise they won't want to stay put very well...ask me how I know

Look for one of these in a wrecking yard -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230320239224 See, no headlight wipers. But the cost of painting to match your car might exceed the cost of new ones. Call or email Phil (Buy Parts link at the top of the page) and describe what you need. If you prefer attitude, talk to the parts guy at your local MB dealership. If you need a VIN, use WDBEA26D5KA861128 from the eBay link. There is no harness. Go to a wrecking yard, snip off the tail light connectors of any 80s MB, just make sure it has 6 pins. If you did it blind, 9 times out of 10 you'd come up with a 6 pin connector. Or again, talk to Phil. If there's no write-up it's because it's easier to do than write up. If you can change oil, you can replace headlights. Stop worrying about it and start turning wrenches. Just don't force anything to the point that it breaks and you won't do anything you can't undo. If you can't change oil, pay someone to change the headlights. I'm pretty sure Phil won't have instructions for you. But he can get you a factory service manual on CD which will have instructions. So the dealer sells painted blanks for when you remove the headlight wipers? Or are they just blank metal/need to be painted?
We're considering getting ride of the headlight wipers....they're stupid....and don't really do anything. The car looks better without them.

I don't think they sell painted blanks. I don't think they sell any painted body panels.

Thats what I figured....oh well, I'll just keep an eye out at the junk yard for the exact color of our car minus the wipers.....(like that will ever happen)....its not a "pressing" issue.....
