This is just funny...

When you see a year 2002 Honda pilot with 4WD struggle to get out of the the snow and i just drive off with my 300SD without a problem...

The only problem I ever had driving in snow was all the other cars in front of me that got stuck.

I'd love to know what ya'lls secrets are. Mine won't even push itself forward if there's more than about 3 inches of snow on the ground. Just doesn't have the grip. I'm blaming it on being front-heavy and not the best tires for winter... but still. The Grand Marquis, for all its other shortcomings, moves around in snow MUCH more capably with similar tires and no other differences than my diesel does.

Last time I tried to take mine out, I came very close to getting stuck trying to turn around in our own driveway. Was considering tire chains but then decided if it was that bad I just would be better off staying home.

Last month a Ford Explorer was stuck in front of my house with tires spinning. I attached a tow strap to my 1979 300SD and pulled it out no problem.

Guessing its cause the MB is an anchor in the snow and digs down to harder surface.

That an must folk with 4wd aint got a clue how to use it where 2wd car folk are use to it cause they got no choice.

I've been happy with my 300D this winter.

I think that having more control with the go pedal allows me to get through things a lot easier than with a gas car..

i.e., I touch the pedal in my diesel, it goes nice and gently. I touch the pedal in any gas car, it jumps forward. Driving my Cougar was a nightmare in any winter weather..although tires and sandbags made a big difference.

proper tire type and good tread is the key, the rest is in the car and the know how to use it. Ive seen many a 4wd stuck because they had wide mud tires instead of skinny snow tires. the only way you can really compare is equal tires in equal conditions. The only time I really got stuck was with a mustang with posi and a shift kit, no matter how I feathered the throttle the darn thing would fishtail when the trans shifted because it was so harsh with the shift kit in it

The best car I ever drove in the snow was a vw bug. skinny tires and a 100 pound granite boulder in the front and it was golden

Here is my secrets , i have a large speaker that weigh 25 LBS weight on the back, + full tank of diesel more weight, Wider in the front skinny tires on the back, Use 3rd gear to cruse and 2nd gear to climb, or get out of a stuck spot, Have a small bag of sand for extra traction. And drive fast when approaching slops.

I don't think my SD is too great in the snow. I usually take the F-250 with 4WD and mud tires, but the brakes are out on it today so I took the Benz. Only 1" of snow today though so it did OK.

I've never really had a problem with the 350 in the snow and the occasional "drift for fun" in the company parking lot is a hoot.

I've never seen anything go through snow drifts like my old G though.

They are all staying put today with everything iced over here. Plenty of food, a fire in the woodburner and wireless internet. All is good.

We actually need snow to test it in.
