Here's an interesting vaccum leak

After I use the door locks on my '85 300TD wagon, the motor doesn't shut off after I switch off the key. Which color vaccum line should I trace to solve this dilemma?

thanks!

Might be a vacuum actuator (diaphragm) and not a hose. I just started having this problem in one of my cars. Mine is the driver's door actuator leaking (I can hear it).

You can test the shut off by disconnecting and plugging the locking and HVAC vacuum. Yellow is for the locks, green for the HVAC, brown is for the shut off valve.

Does the engine shut down with the locks locked or unlocked?

If the engine shuts off with the door unlocked then the leak is likely in the lock side, the yellow with red hose. If the engine shuts off with the doors locked then the leak is likely in the unlock side, the yellow green hose. Though the leak is likely in either the rubber connector or the lock actuator.

Here is a DIY for troubleshooting your vac system

The mity-vac is a must have tool for the vacuum system.

I've had more than one rubber boot go bad, the boot that seals the shaft on the upper side of the actuator. That shaft is what moves up and down and locks/unlocks the door. So for me, the leak was always in the unlock circuit. I always had to make sure to lock the doors so the shifts weren't rock hard and the engine would shut off.

Biodiesel300TD's troubleshooting guide helped me out a lot in understanding how it all worked. Good luck.
