P/S died in snow....

Finally snowing where I live, so I decide to go up in the forest nearby.

I pull over and park up on the snow which is about only 4 inches in height.

Have fun etc.....then decide to leave and i back out of the patch of snow and put it into drive suddenly i have to YANK the wheel pretty hard realizing my p/s went out..

does anyone know where i should start looking first??

I did a visual inspection and saw that all the fluid still remained in the canister and saw no leaks.

possibly shot out an o-ring in the pump?

How cold is it? Possibly moisture in the fluid freezing in a valve? Happened on my daughter's Oldsmobuick.

Kind of a silly question, but is the belt still attached? Or maybe loose and slipping?

How cold was it?

Did you have fun?

Its a serpentine belt....so if it was slipping/off there'd be bigger problems going on....

I'm taking it to my local autoshop class I'm attending to examine it better....

Btw, dont believe anything froze because I'd only left the car off for 10 minutes in about 30F weather.
I'll double check everything and provide and update.

And yes the snow is fun, considering I've been in it less then a handful of times!!!

looked at the pump, still has full fluid in it.

no leaks or noticable breaks.

removed the lid, turned motor on and looked at the fluid. looks as if it IS recirculating the fluild.

any ideas what the issue is?

Turn wheel to one extreme or the other see if u can hear it relief assuming it is pumping would have to be something bypassing rule out pump as problem go from there
