Power steering from a 240D to a 220D?

Will the power steering gear from a 240D bolt onto a 220D? And will the draglink spline be the same and clocked right?

Anybody know?

thanks

I cannot say for sure but I believe it would be a bolt in. I had a seventy two two twenty though with manual and loved it. Course my upper torso resembles a mountain gorilla.

I have seen a 220D with power steering, but they certainly do not need it. Drove our 220D for nearly 20-yrs without power steering and never got into any situation where I even thought about wanting or needing it.

You just need to avoid turning the front wheels when the car is stationary. If that becomes necessary by circumstances use both hands to turn then reposition and use both again.

My father and I did this project last year. We pulled his motor for a overhaul, did the PS "upgrade" at he same time. The gear box and pump would be a bear with it in the car. But it is a bolt on job. Not bad with motor out, just nuts and bolts. All hoses tie rods ect fit right up.
