This is jack jr. my father directed me to this site. i stumbled acrossed an old mecredes and knowing my fathers passion for them i called to see if he had any thoughts on what to do with it. granted its sitting in the local u-pull-it junk yard. he started asking 20 questions and i was able to pick up on the fact that it was a euro. which apparently is a big deal for my father as he was soon babbling almost incoherently! i pulled the bumpers off in short order but being that its V-day i had to move on or get killed by the love of my life. so here is the reason for the post. she works tomorrow and i can go back and try to salvage as much as i can before the rest of the scavangers hit it. I guess specifics would help. it is a 4 door with 203060 miles the instrument cluster was still in it last i looked. it has crank down windows. a manual sunroof. and no center console. dont know about the underside other then that the floor was rusted through in more places then i can remember, yet the doors and fenders were lacking in any significant rust. no grill at all. both head lights, one yellow fog light that is faded on the bottom but not rusted and had a tiny hole in the glass. motor was all there and it has a four speed manual trans. the drivers side, side marker was there and the mirror but it had NO passenger mirror, as in the car never had it. there instead was a solid chrome plate. thats the stuff i can remember but i am sure there is more.

Is it a 1977-1985 model, that is to say, a W123, right?

Got the Vin # off it?

Does it have those euro style headlight wipers?



I realize very well that inside junkyards, you usually are not allowed to take pictures, but is there a way you could take some?

its a 123 body style according to what my father says. i have two photos on my phone and no idea how to put them up but i will try. as far as the wipers... no clue but i can look first thing in the morning. the yard is open 8-4 est. and i didnt think to get the vin but i will get it first thing and have it up for anyon that needs it.

i am guessing that would be what covered the hole in the valve cover. lol one of the few things i do remeber that were missing. sorry. but i will rummage through the car incase they took it off and left it behind somewhere.

You could make some money from the manual transmission, the shifter + linkage and the clutch pedal assembly. Probably the driveshaft included in that package. But you'd be working for the money if its flat on the ground like most junkyard cars.

Euro headlights if in good condition.

Euro tail lights if they have the rear fog light sockets - maybe you just need to get the inside assembly that holds all the sockets and bulbs.

No one was interested in the European 280E I posted about last month....

It was in the Las vegas P-A-P ,near perfect front bumper and headlight wipers , perfect cloth interior....

It's a shame to see these great cars getting crushed with good parts still on them .
