Flushing the SLS on a '81 wagon...
I replaced the accumulators on my wagon this past weekend, piece of cake thanks to all the good info on the forum! The thing is, I need to clean out all of the black fluid in the SLS system. I have read on here how to bleed the system and flush it by means of the bleeder screw..the thing is, I was wondering if I could flush it from the front, at the tank. Seems like it would be easier on me to do it all from there, so I can work the fluid level, and change the filter. Couldnt I just unhook the hose that runs into the top of the tank and run the fluid out from there?

That's the way I do it. It would be a good idea to have someone jump on the rear bumper while you do it to help purge the fluid out of the actuators more thoroughly ... another good reason to flush at the reservoir.

I flush at the reservoir also. I undo the hard line that screws into the top cap, attach fuel line to it and run it into a container. When it is clear I turn the car off and reconnect. Super easy........

I also do it as stated above. Make sure you only use the MB fluid of the Febi/Bilstein stuff. Not generic hydraulic fluid.
